Cabo Pulmo is a national marine park on the east coast of Mexico's Baja California Sur Peninsula, spanning the distance between Cabo Pulmo and San Jose del Cabo, approximately 100 kilometres (62 mi) north of Cabo San Lucas in the Gulf of California. Cabo Pulmo is home to the oldest of only three coral reefs on the west coast of North America. Estimated to be 20,000 years old, it is the northernmost coral reef in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
when it comes to Sea life in the world, however it hasn't always been protected the way that it is today in the 80s and early 90s Cabo Pulmo was a fishing town fishing town and the fishermen headed out into the reef to catch and bring in much of that biodiversity, then in 1,995 it was declared a National Marin Park and the locals treaded in their fishing equipment for snorkel and dive equipment, there are only 120 residents in cabo pulmo, but they care deeply about preserving their home and sharing it safely with others.
